Ofload & Kimberly-Clark Australia Launch First Electric Truck in Major Step Towards Net Zero Freight
Ofload and Kimberly-Clark launch an electric truck on key routes, a bold step toward net zero and scalable low-emission freight.
Sydney, Australia – 26 May 2025 – Ofload, Australia’s leading digital freight provider, has partnered with Kimberly-Clark Australia (KCA) to launch KCA’s first electric truck, marking a significant milestone in sustainable freight transport.
This initiative, featuring a Volvo FL Electric, will see the vehicle integrated into key transport routes, demonstrating the feasibility of low-emission freight at scale. The partnership aligns with KCA’s broader sustainability commitment and Ofload’s ongoing push to decarbonise Australia’s supply chains.
The transport sector is Australia’s fastest-growing source of emissions and is projected to become the largest by 2030. This initiative shows how leading brands can take immediate action to cut emissions in supply chains while proving that electric trucks are a viable, scalable solution for freight operations today.
Ofload partnered with KCA to seamlessly integrate its first electric truck into daily operations. The vehicle will service key freight routes, with the potential for broader adoption. The truck will be leased by sustainably-focused TR Group, who recently launched a zero-emission hydrogen truck.
By leveraging Ofload’s nationwide carrier network, this launch sets a precedent for the wider adoption of electric freight vehicles, providing a blueprint for leading brands and logistics providers looking to transition towards zero-emission transport.
Commenting on the partnership, Geoffroy Henry, CEO of Ofload, said:
“This isn’t just about one electric truck on the road, it marks a pivotal moment where we prove the viability, efficiency, and significant carbon reductions that electric freight can deliver at scale. This is the future of logistics, and we’re leading the way.”
Jessica Renton, Head of Supply Chain ANZ At Kimberly-Clark added:
“As a major manufacturer of essential products found in many Aussie homes, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact. Our freight partnership with Ofload is a key lever within our supply chain and we’re proud to partner with them on this transformative project.”
Even a single electric truck can make a significant dent in transport emissions.
- A Melbourne-to-Sydney journey in a diesel B-double truck emits 1.9 tonnes of CO₂, nearly ten times the emissions of an average car on the same route.
- A Melbourne-to-Brisbane trip produces 3.9 tonnes, while Sydney-to-Brisbane generates 2 tonnes.
- To put this in perspective, a single Melbourne-to-Brisbane journey by diesel truck produces more CO₂ than an average Australian household emits in two and a half months.
By replacing even one diesel truck with an electric alternative, Ofload and Kimberly-Clark Australia are proving that zero-emission freight isn’t a distant vision but a reality that can be scaled today.
A key component of this initiative is assisting Australia’s carrier network with the adoption of electric trucks. Ofload and TR Group worked closely with the carrier involved in this partnership, Brisbane Transport, to determine the financial viability, network integration, and operational efficiency of this transition.
Using detailed commercial modelling that factored in variables such as vehicle utilisation, kilometre range, driver hours and revenue margins, Ofload demonstrated the positive operational and sustainability impacts of introducing an electric truck to Brisbane Transport’s fleet.
This highlights how small and medium carriers can embrace electric freight solutions with the right logistics partners, utilisation guarantees, and financial support models.
KCA is already well advanced in reducing its carbon footprint, having adopted Ofload’s Carbon Analytics Platform (CAP) in May last year. CAP provides real-time visibility into its freight emissions, using Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) - accredited calculations to accurately track, measure, and optimise its supply chain’s environmental impact.
KCA cut 5.23% of its total emissions in 2024, saving 3,544 tonnes of CO₂ - equating to emissions from the annual electricity usage of 670 Aussie households or nearly 22 thousands car trips between Sydney and Brisbane.
With transparent data and real-time tracking, KCA, and businesses across Australia, can make informed decisions to transition toward low-emission freight solutions, ensuring both sustainability commitments and regulatory readiness.
This launch serves as a blueprint for the future of sustainable freight in Australia, aligning with Ofload’s broader Net Zero mission. It builds on the company’s landmark sustainability initiatives, including:
- The Carbon Analytics Platform (CAP) - Australia’s first fully automated carbon measurement tool, enabling businesses to track and reduce supply chain emissions.
- DataVerse - the first platform aggregating national freight data, providing shippers with full visibility of end-to-end carbon output.
- Regulatory readiness – with climate-related financial disclosures, and Scope 3 emissions regulations approaching, businesses must prepare for a new compliance landscape. Ofload is at the forefront of this transformation, equipping shippers and carriers with data-driven, scalable solutions to meet sustainability goals.
Notes:
About Ofload’s Carbon Analytics Platform
Ofload’s Carbon Analytics Platform (CAP) is an industry-first tool that utilises data analytics to measure various criteria, including freight distance, vehicle type and age, load factors and fuel consumption impacts.
The calculations used in CAP are accredited by the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC). For many companies, Ofload’s CAP is currently the only way they can accurately measure carbon output through their supply chain.
The Platform meets the government’s current specified Scope 3 requirements, with companies only needing to download an Ofload report to comply.
